Deborah Strauss and Cantor Jeff Warschauer in Concert

Internationally renowned klezmer musician Deborah Strauss (violin, accordion, vocals, dance) and Cantor Jeff Warschauer (guitar, mandolin, vocals) are sweet and soulful performers who draw from klezmer, Yiddish, Hasidic, and liturgical music and culture, adding their own original compositions and song settings. Their music is grounded in tradition, yet thoroughly contemporary. For this concert, they will also incorporate songs from the Holocaust period as well as songs about violins. The concert will be followed by Yiddish dancing with music and dance leading provided by Jeff, Deborah, Mitch Harris, and members of Urbana's Papashoy Klezmer Band.

Sponsored by: Champaign Urbana Jewish Federation, Champaign Urbana Jewish Endowment Foundation, JCC Chicago, Spurlock Museum, Spurlock Museum Judaica Fund. The Spurlock Museum acknowledges support from the Illinois Arts Council Agency for this performance.
