Women make up about half the world’s population but have been significantly written out of most histories. Yet women have forged powerful networks throughout history to share knowledge, secure influence, drive change, and support each other. Many of these were through informal, alternative channels because women were excluded from formal institutions of education, politics, and commerce. From the bonds formed by motherhood, religion, afternoon teas, and modern digital communities, women have created and maintained strong connection with each other. These ordinary activities have served as powerful tools for preserving knowledge and creating identity.
