Position Opening:
Artifact Mount Sewer/Builder (Fall 2025)

The Collections Management Section at the Spurlock Museum is accepting applications for a part-time undergraduate assistant to assist with the sewing and construction of 2-D and 3-D storage and/or exhibit mounts.

Required Qualifications:

  • sewing experience
  • strong organizational skills
  • acute attention to detail
  • good visual acuity to properly observe/inspect artifact condition
  • fine motor skills and dexterity to sew/build mounts
  • ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • ability to climb ladders and stairs, stoop, bend, kneel, lift up to 30 pounds, and stand for the duration of your shift.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • federal work study status
  • interest in museums, anthropology, history, and/or art history
  • experience working with hand tools
  • experience with various crafting equipment
  • freshman or sophomore standing

Schedule and Wages:

  • position requires 8 hours per week
  • hours are flexible but must be scheduled between the hours of 9:00 am—5:00 pm Monday—Friday.
  • position runs through the school year with the option to work during Summer
  • pays $15 an hour
