Position Opening:
Artifact Mount Sewer/Builder (Fall 2025)
The Collections Management Section at the Spurlock Museum is accepting applications for a part-time undergraduate assistant to assist with the sewing and construction of 2-D and 3-D storage and/or exhibit mounts.
Required Qualifications:
- sewing experience
- strong organizational skills
- acute attention to detail
- good visual acuity to properly observe/inspect artifact condition
- fine motor skills and dexterity to sew/build mounts
- ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- ability to climb ladders and stairs, stoop, bend, kneel, lift up to 30 pounds, and stand for the duration of your shift.
Preferred Qualifications:
- federal work study status
- interest in museums, anthropology, history, and/or art history
- experience working with hand tools
- experience with various crafting equipment
- freshman or sophomore standing
Schedule and Wages:
- position requires 8 hours per week
- hours are flexible but must be scheduled between the hours of 9:00 am—5:00 pm Monday—Friday.
- position runs through the school year with the option to work during Summer
- pays $15 an hour
